And it's possible to get a super crappy education at home as well. The biggest advantage of homeschooling you actually learn how to "learn" pretty fast. This happens because you don't have as many people who know when your doing your work and when your not, the responsibility is placed on the student more then anyone else. The biggest disadvantage is not lack of social interaction if the parents/guardians want there kid to have lots of friends and be crazy busy and have a job and play sports and play in a band, home schoolers can do all that. What is the biggest disadvantage is actually what is the advantage, this lack of "disciple" allows the possibility of bad habits and laziness to develop. The majority of home schoolers I know go on to get undergraduate degrees and masters and do very well....but there are some who are still in their parents basement :( Yes it is! Keep in mind the opposite is true too. It's possible to get a poor education at home. Finland is outdoing us, but not because most Finnish children are homeschooled. We need to look at what other countries are doing and make changes to our schools. Even though we used to be better, we probably never were #1. Education no matter how you get it is what you make of it. Yes it is possible!
