I have friends who work as interpreters in Europe. They did their undergraduate degrees in the foreign language they want to work with, while taking a few Linguistics courses as their electives. Then, they did Master's degrees in Translating. This isn't my area of interest, and I don't know of any North American universities that offer graduate programs in Translating.

Well, you need to have a good background in both languages you are interpreting. If you're going from Spanish to English, I would suggest that you study English better, so you know the grammar and sentence structure. Any university or even a community college can help with the study of English. You probably know your Spanish well, but from your question, it would seem that you have more trouble with the English language, so I would concentrate on that in your pursuit of being an interpreter. Good luck! Buena suerte!
